Hotel Review: Courtyard by Marriott Portland City Center

If you’ve been following the blog for some time, you probably already know that Dad and I took a trip to Portland back in March. Using Dad’s yearly free-night certificate from his Marriott Visa, we stayed at the Marriott Courtyard Portland Center City, a category 4 property, for our first night in town. We arrived at PDX pretty late at night, and thankfully the hotel was located directly off of the 5th/Oak St stop on the green line of the TriMet MAX Light Rail, making it extremely convenient and accessible to get to (even in the pouring rain).

Since the NCAA Basketball Tournament was in town for the days we were in Portland, we were fortunate that this property had availability, since it seemed like most of the downtown hotels were already booked to capacity. Overall, I really enjoyed our stay here; the hotel was super clean, newly-renovated, and had friendly staff.

The only complaint I have was that the comforter (if that’s what they want to get away with calling it), was very thin and could easily be confused as a sheet. I was pretty cold all night, and there weren’t any extra blankets stored anywhere in the room. On the bright side, I’ve never been more excited to jump out of bed in the morning, bundle up in my warm coat, and head straight to some of the food trucks that were located across the street. I ended up with a delicious and enormous portion of Pad Thai for $5 (not that anyone cares, right?). Enjoy the photos below!

The newly-renovated hotel lobby was quite cozy.
